Absolutely fantastic fries, which are known from McDonald's fast food. They are much cheaper and you can do them anytime and anywhere you want.

potatoes 500 g 379,7 kcal
golden syrup 1 heaping tbsp 25 g 87,2 kcal
granulated sugar 2 tbsp 20 g 80,2 kcal
sunflower oil or canola oil - as needed 100 ml 829,9 kcal
salt 1/2 tsp - to taste 4 g 0,2 kcal
water 2400 ml -
  1. McDonald´s fries begin with peeling required amount of potatoes. They should be larger and longer. If you want nice and even shaped fries use a slicer to cut them, or you can cut them with a knife, but it takes longer and you get uneven shapes.
  2. Pop the fries for 5 minutes in cold water, to remove excess starch.
  3. Into another container put nearly boiling water (90°C), which should be approximately 1200 ml.
  4. Add 2 level tablespoons sugar and 1 heaping tablespoon of McDonald's secret ingredient - " Golden Syrup ". This will give our fries beautiful crunchy sweetness, and it is really amazingly delicious.
  5. Mix the secret potion so that everything is dissolved. Take fries from cold water, drain off a bit and transfer them into a hot water. Leave them for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. As a result you will get crunchy sweetness of which McDonald's fries are famous for.
  6. After 10 minutes in hot water take them out on a paper towel to dry.
  7. After drying, put them into a the freezer for 20 minutes.
  8. Afterwards the fries get pretty hard and then fry them in vegetable oil. We can use either canola or sunflower oil.
  9. Fry it twice {text: "Freezing and double frying is complex of chemical processes that makes it taste like McDonald's fries."} , at the temperature of 160°C. If you 're not sure of the temperature, choose rather lower.
  10. For the first time fry only 2 minutes. During this short procedure, they will not get any colour. Take them on a plate with absorbent wipes and let them cool for 10 minutes.
  11. After this time put the fries back into oil and fry for about 5-7 minutes until golden. By the first frying we achieve beautiful fluffy inside of fries, while the second frying will give crispy finish. Use sufficient amount of oil to prevent chips from sticking together.
  12. Take them out on the absorbent wipes, to drain off any excess oil and while hot season with salt.

Serve hot without cooling.

You may find this recipe difficult, but afterwards you will not do it any other fries.
